Laser Body Sculpting

When you consider the options available, laser body sculpting seems to be a much wiser choice than traditional liposuction.

Traditional liposuction has a twenty year history, and the benefits, as well as side effects have been well proven and studied over the years. Laser body sculpting, on the other hand, has only been available for a short time. It was only approved in North America in 2007. This raises concerns amongst some physicians. Some think that the fatty acids that are released have the potential to damage the liver over the long term. The procedure has, however, been used for about ten years in other regions of the world, giving it some mid length term credibility. Another concern that is often expressed about laser body sculpting is the cost. It is much more costly than its traditional liposuction predecessor. This makes the more cost effective traditional liposuction a better option for many people.

Cost is not the only thing to be considered, though. Traditional liposuction requires a general anesthetic for the procedure. That adds a certain factor of danger to the process. Laser body sculpting can be performed while the patient is awake. This reduces a minor risk factor, but a risk factor nonetheless.

Traditional liposuction also has a history of causing bleeding and swelling. This results in a long and painful recovery time. Laser body sculpting has the benefit of heat, which seals up the wounds. This reduces swelling and bleeding. The natural results are quicker and less painful recovery time.

One other negative attribute to traditional liposuction is that many people do not like what they see when the procedure is finished. The fat is taken away, but the skin remains stretched out and droopy. One problem is removed, but another one comes up in its place. How would you feel if you just paid thousands of dollars to make your body look better, and you did not like how your body looked after the procedure was finished?

Laser body sculpting has a much better track record for people being happy with the results when the surgery is finished. The skin is not left sagging and drooping, because an natural byproduct of laser body sculpting is the body’s production of collagen.

Collagen is what causes our skin to stay tight and elastic. When the body produces more collagen, the drooping and sagging skin naturally tightens up and becomes more aesthetically appealing.

Another great benefit to laser body sculpting is that the probe is a fair bit smaller than the one for traditional liposuction. This makes the new surgery much less invasive and dangerous than the traditional one. The smaller probe also means a smaller incision is needed for the insertion. This greatly decreases the scarring from the procedure.

Depending on your needs and financial situation, both surgical types of fat reduction can do the trick. The tried and tested traditional liposuction will permanently get rid of that fat at a substantially lower cost. The new laser body sculpting method, though, will produce better results with a quicker recovery time.

The choice is yours.

Smart Lipo – Laser Assisted Liposuction For Body Sculpting

Monday, March 15th, 2010

If you are already fit and healthy, working out regularly and eating properly, it can be very upsetting not to able to shed those stubborn areas of fatty cells. But is it really worth putting your health at risk by having a general anesthetic given the risks associated? This is the dilemma a lot of people used to face. Add to that the significant pain, swelling and bleeding associated with traditional liposuction and it is easy to see why some people avoided it.

But with smart laser liposuction you get all the benefits of traditional procedure with virtually none of the drawbacks. As the entire process is so much less invasive you don’t need a general anesthetic so that risk out is eliminated. Laser treatment involves heat and this causes a number of positive side effects in liposuction. The amount of blood loss and trauma caused to the surrounding tissue is significantly reduced. The heat from the laser will cauterize the wounds thus reducing bleeding and swelling. This means that your recovery time will be so much faster than using the old version. You will be able to treat any pain with over the counter medications rather than the narcotic pain relief usually required by patients treated with ordinary liposuction.

The second benefit of the heat produced by the laser is that it causes a reaction in your body which stimulates the production of collagen. Collagen is the tightening tissue that we all need to keep our skin firm and supple. After having fatty cells removed under the old treatment, skin often became saggy. But due to this production of collagen, the skin will be smoother and usually tauter than before the procedure was done. The extra benefit is that this improvement in your skins texture and appearance continues for the next four to six months.

The less obvious attraction of smart laser liposuction is the fact that some procedures will not require the fat cells to be removed by suction. This does depend on the size of the area being treated, the location on your body and the skills of your surgeon. But for some people this has a physiological benefit as they cannot bear to think of a vacuum pump being used on their bodies.

A huge advantage with smart laser liposuction is the fact that your risk of developing complications and requiring further surgery is significantly reduced. A tummy tuck usually follows traditional liposuction when used to treat this area as the saggy skin has to be removed. But this isn’t necessary when laser is used. Also under the traditional form of treatment, skin infections were not uncommon whereas they are extremely rare with the newer and improved techniques. We don’t yet know if the doctors who are concerned about the effect of fatty cells released by laser assisted liposuction on the liver are justified. Only time will tell but in the meantime the current advantages of the new treatment over the more traditional surgery are significant enough for most people to opt for smart laser liposuction.

Smart lipo, or laser assisted liposuction is fast becoming popular in the field of cosmetic surgery. It has all the benefits of traditional liposuction with much less risk. Learn all the facts before making your decision.
