There has always been a booming market for fake and “replica” designer handbags. Many of you have heard horror stories of buyers expectantly waiting for their genuine designer goods, only to be disappointed when they receive a replica. In the not too distant past there were only two categories of designer handbag: authentic and fake. It was just that simple. Now there are different levels of fake handbags making the buyers job that much more difficult. The five levels of authenticity are real, fallen off the truck, that’s good, you’ve got to be kidding, and designer inspired.

The Real Deal – Just like the titles says; these products are un-mistakably real. These products are as genuine as they come; they come direct from the designer, fashion house, or Italian manufacturer. You will easily be able to tell these handbags and accessories are made from the finest and most luxurious fabrics and leathers with intricate stitching and details. These handbags are made by experienced artisan and it shows. They are beautiful and are made to not only last but feel better over time.

Fallen Off the Truck – The same products as the real deal but they are not authorized by the designers, fashion houses, or manufacturers. Often these products were smuggled or stolen and sold as “authorized purchases” from the source. You don’t want to buy stolen product; what else is there to say.

Wow, That’s Good – These high quality replica bags would be considered the VIP of fake handbags. These bags are created to be as close to the real product as possible. Unfortunately they are made with lower quality materials and mass-produced by machinery. By using inferior materials and machinery, these bags are less costly and can fall apart with little wear. You’ll need to take a close look and make a comparison on many of these items to see the difference with the real deal. These handbags will not age well.

You’ve Got to Be Kidding – These low quality replica handbags are also mass-produced by machinery and made from inexpensive materials. These bags often fall apart after a few uses. A good example would be a Coach bag with “G”s on the fabric. It’s reasonable to say that most people would be abel to tell they are buying a fake. They just don’t look that good.

Designer Inspired – There are hundreds of products out there boasting the same styles as coveted authentic designer bags but at a much lower cost. There are many designers who take their cues from Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent, Dior, Gucci and the like. These bags are mass marketed and available at shopping malls, both big and small, across the globe. These are the middle of the road fakes. If the price is just too good to be true, it’s probably not the real deal.

Before you buy your next designer handbag make sure you know what you’re getting. We’d hate for you to spend all that money for an authentic bag only to receive a replica from a store that’s vanished.
